Budget & Bikini Friendly Foods

IMG_0210
I, like the other 99% of people on earth, live on a budget. I have a decent job, well three jobs actually, and am fortunate enough to enjoy many things. I work hard to earn my money (again three jobs) so I hate the idea of spending it all on food. I am in the camp that believes saving on groceries means splurging on shoes (NIKE shoes in particular). So here are my ten budget and bikini friendly foods.

Whey Protein:My favorite is Optimum Gold Standard and it comes in more flavors than you can imagine. In one scoop, you get 24 grams of protein and only one gram of sugar. Cost 0.75 cents per serving.

The Dirty Dozen

The 12 fruits and veggies you should be buying organic.IMG_0213With over-whelming research and publications about organic foods, it is difficult to ignore the benefits. Among other benefits, buying and eating organic reduces the amount of chemicals you place in your body and it’s better for the environment from the lack of pesticides. However, there are two main things that hinder my organic eating. 1.) Organic produce isn’t always in large supply. 2.) Lets just face it, eating organic is expensive.
Thankfully, I found the “Dirty Dozen.” The Dirty Dozen has become important in my grocery lists and has helped my wallet on weekly shopping trips. The D.D. is a list of 12 items to help you buy organic, healthy foods. It was compiled by the USDA after washing produce with the mother of all washing systems. The produce that made the list still [...]

6 Foods with Healthy Alternatives

Food cravings are time and time again a topic that comes up with weight gain. Its a big issue. I, myself, have an intense craving for peanut butter pretty much throughout the day. I find myself going to the peanut butter jar often and scooping out a little spoonful just to satisfy my craving… thats not good! At least I only purchase peanut butter without any additives like sugar or salt – just peanuts ground up, thats all! Anyway, the point is that we all have cravings and usually it tends to be for something we really shouldn’t be eating if were trying to lose weight.

I want to share with you a healthy list of alternatives to foods that we crave or just foods that we eat often. Here’s to Clean Eating.
