Valentines Day Sweets

With the little self control I have, I do my best to avoid sweets. That pint of Ben and Jerry’s containing four servings and over 1000 calories is easily consumed in a night when no matter how many times I say “I’ll just have a bite.”  But in honor of Valentines Days, I have decided to make some of my favorite cookies: cake-mix cookies. But, with a little twist. Instead of the oil and eggs the recipe calls for, I will be substituting  yogurt and egg whites to cut back on fat and calories.

1 box cake mix
1/2 c oil
2 eggs

Twisted Recipe:
1 box cake mix (Valentines funfetti)
1/2 cup non fat yogurt, plain or vanilla
1/2 cup egg whites

1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl until it forms a dough
2. [...]

Food cravings are time and time again a topic that comes up with weight gain. Its a big issue. I, myself, have an intense craving for peanut butter pretty much throughout the day. Anyway, the point is that we all have cravings and usually it tends to be for something we really shouldn’t be eating if were trying to lose weight.

I want to share with you a healthy list of alternatives to foods that we crave or just foods that we eat often. Here’s to Clean Eating.

Goodbye Hostess – This is good news for our health

I woke up this morning to the news that Hostess is closing up shop! WOW! That’s shocking! I haven’t eaten a Hostess product in about 3+ years (actually this is a guess, because I really can’t remember!)… but it still strikes a sad chord in me. Not because I want to eat these products or crave them, but just the iconic value that Hostess had in my life… growing up I LOVED the cupcakes, the donuts (“Donettes”), the Ho-Ho’s…. when I think of them in my mouth now though, I feel kinda queasy! Nowadays I wouldn’t ever eat these products… unless I was starving! And there was nothing else to eat, I might. They just are nutrition-less… if that’s a word. [...]

Why do we need fats?

Fats help absorb vitamins and minerals and prevents vitamin deficiencies.
Fats give us energy that our body needs, especially if blood sugar supply runs out – fat acts as [...]
