Happy Friday! I am very happy tomorrow is the weekend, how about you guys? It’s been sunny and gorgeous here. Perfect weather to be active and get a little fitness in each day. You should try and get some fitness into your days too. Taking a bike ride or walking to your favorite restaurant for lunch instead of driving is just one great example of getting a little bit of exercise into your day, the easy and fun way! Or you could just go to the mall and walk around – this burns calories too, you know! Funny to think you can shop and burn calories at the same time – but it really is true. So take advantage of that and go shopping! Or take a bike ride and treat yourself to a tasty lunch. Just as long as you be active regularly you will be well on your way to being healthy, fit, lose weight, look great and feel wonderful.
One thing that can be a real downer during Summertime is the heat! Where I live it is generally real mild summers and I am so thankful. But I am sitting here right now feeling pretty warm! I can only imagine how people feel that live in super hot areas. One way to keep cool is making yummy smoothies! I used to think it was hard to make a smoothie, but now I make one every single day and its a breeze! Here is a simple, yet super yummy recipe.
Banana Blueberry Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup low-fat milk (cows milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc)
1/2 Banana
3/4 cup blueberries (frozen is okay)
2 TBSP ground flaxseed
4-5 ice cubes
Directions:
1. Blend all ingredients in blender and enjoy.
Total Calories: 300
This recipe will help cool you down during a hot day and its good for you too. The blueberries are super high in Vitamin C and the flax will give you the Omega-3′s you need. Everything else is on a good food list as well. So drink up!
Please remember: If you live in a super hot place, keep cool during the day and make sure you keep hydrated! Water is so vital to good health and avoiding heat exhaustion. Be active in the early morning hours or during the evening when the sun is not at its peak.
